Entry 1He rushed into the CVS, eyes ahead of himself, in a quick stride down the sidewalk and through the automatic doors. He grabbed a Cherry Coke, cracked it open as he always did, and sipped it while he browsed the makeup section. At this point he knew which brands he liked-Maybelline, NYX- he rarely branched out unless something stood out to him, like something by the drag queen KimChi. He bought the Coke and the foundation he found at the self-checkout then exited the store into the baking Texas sun.Feeling impulsive, he texted an old friend "hey, what's up. long time no speak. how u been?" Is it too awkward he thought. Well, it's only awkward for him. He desperately wanted a social makeover.Entry 2Olive was wearing olive, as she flipped through the clothes racks of the vintage store like a 30-year-veteran office assistant through a Rolodex. That top? Too hot for summer, but if she waited a couple months. She looked at a little Japanese figurine of a lady with a parasol and her dapper companion, possibly a Lord. She set it on the counter and picked out the fall top.Entry 3Ryan poured himself a glass of iced tea out of the fridge, the bottled, storebought kind. He gulped it down at once then climbed to his room. He was still thirsty, so he had a glass of water. He flicked through his Instagram feed. Instagram was a safe space for him, kind of like CVS was also a safe space. CVS sold relatively cheap makeup and people generally left him be there. He thought about the lipstick he bought there for only $1.18. "Deal of the century." He was going to wear that on his lip tonight; maybe his future husband would see him and decide to adore him for life then and there.Entry 4Fort Worth was hot, Ryan said to himself, while stepping into the furnace of his car. He sat there for a second then started the vehicle and cranked up the AC all the way. He thought about Fawn. She recommended that show last week. Would he have time to watch it tonight? Or rather, would he be able to start a show tonight without immediately falling asleep. When he got to the theater, it was himself, his parents, and Fawn. Ryan usually eschewed the concessions line but today decided on a soda and some candy. "I'm going to stay out here for a couple minutes," he said to his parents after getting their concessions, "to try the claw machine." He scanned his card on the tap-to-pay card reader and bought himself 3 attempts at the claw machine. The arm dipped down on the first attempt and slipped its arms around a koala snugly; it raised without budging. Ryan himself bugged out his eyes as he slowly watched the claw move from the middle of the machine to the slot in the corner. As the koala dropped into the slot, Ryan was nearly ecstatic. He grabbed his koala from the slot and headed to the theater.
